Superintendent Chris Reykdal Earns Overwhelming Endorsement of Public Educators Statewide

Tumwater - Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal has announced three key endorsements over the weekend signaling broad support from educators statewide.

“Educators across the state are voicing their support for the work we’ve done and the work we will achieve in the next four years. With endorsements from Washington Education Association, American Federation of Teachers Washington, and Public School Employees (SEIU 1948), our re-election campaign is continuing to build exciting momentum,” said State Superintendent Chris Reykdal.

“From increasing teacher and paraeducator pay, to funding additional physical, social, and emotional health staff, to establishing a first-in-the-nation teacher residency program, to taking intentional and effective measures to diversify our educator workforce, we are showing educators that the instruction, care, and support they provide to students on a daily basis is valuable, appreciated, and worth fighting for at the ballot box.”

Larry Delaney, WEA President, said, “Chris earned the overwhelming endorsement of Washington’s public educators. WEA members understand that public education is under attack by well-funded interests that seek to privatize our schools and send taxpayer funds to unaccountable, discriminatory private corporations. Superintendent Reykdal and WEA are united in our effort to ensure every child in our state gets a great public education where every student is welcomed. We look forward to strongly supporting Superintendent Reykdal's re-election effort.”

Superintendent Reykdal has also secured endorsements from over 100 current and former statewide and local elected officials and several more labor unions including Washington Federation of State Employees, Washington Teamsters, International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers District Lodge 751, and more. Superintendent Reykdal’s coalition is broad and diverse and also includes organizations like Washington Association for Career & Technical Education, Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates, and Washington Conservation Action.
